<br />
Yeah, the author of this blog. I'm here and still alive. Haven't forgotten about the blog world, just on hiatus I guess.<br />
<br />
Since my last post, as you can imagine a whole lot has happened. I've been working 40+ hours every week, Halloween, Thanskgiving, Christmas and New Year's have all come and gone. What a fun end of the year it was but how exciting 2012 has been and will be. Here is where the fun began for us!<br />
<br />
On Tuesday Aug. 30th, I hadn't seen that lovely friend yet that visits every month. I didn't want to be too hasty so I had figured I'd hold out until the weekend and see what transpired. It was a very quiet peaceful evening, just Robert and myself, eating dinner and watching Wipeout and suddenly right in the middle of the show, Robert says "I can't wait until the weekend! Go take that test now!" I asked if he was sure cause the longer we wait the more accurate it would be. Well, less than 30 seconds later I was in the bathroom pulling out a pregnancy test. Just as I went to set it down on the counter I said, "Now it says it can take up to 2 minutes to show a result" and that's when Robert said, "I don't think it takes two minutes" and he turned to look at me with a big ol' Robert smile on his face. That's the day we found out we were going to be parents.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_IOGJv1Hc0g/T1ufMomgS6I/AAAAAAAAB7Q/wWKMeWuTc38/s1600/IMAG0308.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="119" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_IOGJv1Hc0g/T1ufMomgS6I/AAAAAAAAB7Q/wWKMeWuTc38/s200/IMAG0308.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><br />
<br />
Of course the weeks following included many discussions on how we wanted to surprise our families with the news, what we thought the gender would be and what we hoped for, our.favorite names, different.parenting styles and all those fun conversations after those two little lines appear. Not to mention within a week Robert was already coming home with boxes of diapers. Following those weeks were more of the same-- how are we going to reveal the gender to our families (which is a funny story in itself), narrowing down our favorite names and how excited we were for all the new change.<br />
<br />
<br />
Amongst all of our fun, my sister was due 3 months ahead of me. So here we are with an exciting time in their lives and we're following right behind them. So to condense all the fun we've had and are still having here are some pictures to sum it all up.<br />
<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Our tiny baby at 11 weeks 1 day -- second ultrasound</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>As for our 3rd ultrasound, that is where we found out we were having a boy. We were given 17 pictures which I proudly displayed at work, but surprisingly we have not uploaded any yet. (I'll make sure to do a post on those when we finally do).<br />
<br />

Also, the night before Halloween my mom, sister and I built this costume-- "Bun in the oven" and had a blast with it! The timer said 4:27 --- our due date.<br />
<br />
I'll be writing a few more posts on other fun stuff that we've been working on while getting ready for our boy. Along with details about how we surprised our families, the name for our pip-squeak, cravings and funny pregnancy stories--- but until then here's what's REALLY been fun the past 4 weeks.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Presenting</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;">Bentley Christopher Mailo</span></div><div style="text-align: center;">February 5th 7:27pm 8 lbs 2 oz. 20.5 inches </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div>My sister is amazing.... All natural, baby! It is truly amazing to see my sister be such a wonderful and natural mom. I only wish I could be half the mom she is! I have loved seeing her and Bentley. It is so precious and I treasure every moment with them.<br />
<br />
This bundle of happiness has been nothing but pure joy to his parents, Heather & St John and to my entire family. He is just adorable and coos when you hold him! I feel so lucky to have such a handsome nephew. To know that we are going to have our own little boy to love as much as we love Bentley (and sorry Heather) and probably even more, is such an amazing thought. These angelic babies are truly miracles that I am so blessed to have in my life. I can't wait to see these two grow up together. Now here are some absolute irresistible pictures for all those baby lovers out there.<br />

</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: small;">So, we were forced out of our place. Yes, we pay our rent on time. Early almost every month actually! Our wonderful landlords needed to replace our tiny little porch and our stairs because it had some dry rot. Which has been attracting frogs on our porch because of the bugs... so, we all know how I coexist with those little creatures. (In case you don't know...the answer is that I don't!)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So ever since I started dating Robert I've heard about this place called Camp Winton. It is a Boys' Scout Camp that he went to and loved. He has been talking about doing this "extreme camping" trip, which is right next to the beloved Camp Winton, since we were only dating. So since we had no home for the weekend (or at least no way to get up into our place) it was the perfect time to go try out this "extreme camping" thing.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">We packed up as little as we could, borrowed m<span style="font-family: Times,"Times New Roman",serif;">y Grandpa's canoe and headed up to Bear River Reservoir. Robert and I took the canoe down off of his truck, packed it u</span>p with our stuff and started paddling. Three miles later we made it to the dam. We then had to unpack the canoe and little by little hike everything up and around this cliff to get to the upper reservoir. Needless to say the canoe was the hardest part. Just Robert and me on steep ground. It took us two and a half hours and I was exhausted! BUT-- once you get to the top you pack the canoe right back up and start paddling for another two miles. Since the upper reservoir cannot be accessed without a boat, you are practically the only <strike>crazy</strike> adventurous people there. We saw only three people once we made it to the top of the dam.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So, there you are on this gorgeous lake, surrounded by mountains and where we camped, not a soul in sight. It was truly beautiful and we had a great time just relaxing, eating, playing card games together like Gin and Split Pea! Robert taught me how to tie all your food up in a tree and we had a blast just exploring this ridiculously silent nature. Not to mention that as we were camping, our little place got an awesome renovation. We plan on going again and want to make it a tradition, but I sure am working out more before we do. Here are some pictures of our adventure.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

</td><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br />
</td></tr>
</tbody></table>So, obviously, I survived those last few crazy weeks in college. I finished all my papers, projects and other deadlines and got all A's but one B. Not bad for a busy last semester. We had a fabulous ceremony on May 21st and enjoyed a delicious BBQ afterward at the Elk Grove Park with family. The actual day was so surreal because it felt like a fun celebration but in the back of my mind I kept thinking I'd be back when the next semester came around. That's just what I've always done. One of my most favorite things about the ceremony was the unity you could see from my major. The Deaf Studies major is such a tight knit group and we were all friends too. We all signed the Star Spangled Banner and **waved hands** as our fellow graduate received the Dean's Award on stage. I will definitely miss my friends, school and all the fun experiences I have had but I have learned so much and have had some great times! Also, if you know me at all, you know that I am a huge ally of the Deaf community, obviously why I majored in Deaf Studies. If you feel like reading one of my final papers here is my 15 pager titled, <a href="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24869015/Deafhood.pdf">"Medical Biases Decide the Fate of Your Child's Deafhood".</a> As I had just finished writing this, I sat down and read it out loud to my parents to get their input. (Yes, I made them endure all 15 pages). At the end I was literally crying. I am so passionate about the awareness of Deaf Culture and ASL. The injustices forced upon the Deaf community are unreal and the worst part is that the majority of people have no clue what has been done. Anyway, lets not get me fired up on that subject! As of right now, I am applying for any job opening I see. I truly hope to go back and get my Interpreting Certification or by some miracle go back and get a Master's/Teaching Cred. so I can teach to Deaf children. My internship was in a Kindergarten-2nd grade class and I just fell in love with it!...One day....one day...<br />

Heather made these adorable "ILY" signs and my professors and other grads loved them!! My whole family was in the first row right as we walked in waving the signs.... I love my family!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-40355611572633865452011-05-02T18:14:00.000-07:002011-05-03T16:47:31.776-07:00The final stretch--It is crazy to think that my whole college career has boiled down to the end and I am in a final sprint to home plate.<br />
<br />
It took 4 years and one semester ( I took a semester off to get married!!) ....but still not too shabby.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">In <b>19</b> days I have:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">--<span style="font-size: small;">One</span> <span style="font-size: large;">15 page</span> research paper </div><div style="text-align: center;">--<span style="font-size: large;">Six</span> 2-4 page papers</div><div style="text-align: center;">--Video project</div><div style="text-align: center;">--<span style="font-size: large;">Two</span> in class performances</div><div style="text-align: center;">--One <span style="font-size: large;">10-minute</span> presentation</div><div style="text-align: center;">--<span style="font-size: large;">Two</span> finals</div><div style="text-align: center;">--Only <span style="font-size: large;">Eight and a half</span> more hours at my placement</div><br />
I'm feeling quite stressed but I just remind myself, THIS IS IT! <br />
Whew....I'll feel a lot better when this is all done.<br />
I can do this....I can do this...I can do this!!!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-25989410029480198342011-04-20T01:46:00.001-07:002011-04-21T16:35:12.010-07:00Mom time...Is there anything better?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></div><br />
<div>Seriously, what is better than having a day to hang out with your mom? I mean it. If I could, I would weekly....I love my momma! This past Saturday the hubs had his very first golf tournament. My dad was on his team **brag time (by the way they got 6th place, on Robert's very first tournament!!! $35 each! Way to go babe.)* So I thought it would be fun to do something with my mom that I haven't been able to do in a long time -- Antique shopping. I have so many fond memories of gazing hours on end with my mom and sisters at fun old trinkets and knick-knacks...some familiar and some just plain odd. I had such a great time! There was one thing I had my eye set out for though. A cookie jar. I have been needing/wanting one for so long so I thought this was the day I would find one. When I informed Robert that I wanted look for a cookie jar he requested that it wasn't "lame" but "really cool". He said, "You should get Chewbacca or Cookie Monster. Those are cool." After walking aisle by aisle at the Antique Trove, we did find some but not me at all, and by Robert's defintion..."really lame". I thought that it was just not my day, until we walked into the second to last vendor's nook. On the very top of the shelf I saw white and an oreo cookie. I grabbed it down and found my very first cookie jar! It was so me...I am a milkoholic! I was ecstatic when I saw the price too. Compared to other cookie jars we saw throughout the day that range from $50+, this one was only $29.99 in excellent condition... After a disappointing beginning of my day I was so happy to have found what I originally set out to buy. On another note...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_F10mERcJjqA/Ta6dZhA2f8I/AAAAAAAABzU/mt4UZCmNDvo/IMAG0121.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_F10mERcJjqA/Ta6dZhA2f8I/AAAAAAAABzU/mt4UZCmNDvo/IMAG0121.png" /></a></div>The only disappointment of the day was that I found something I have NEVER seen before. I have always been in love with Edgar Degas-he is a famous French artist and sculptor. My favorite art pieces of all time belong to him. I have a blanket I adore with a replica of my favorite painting... One piece that is especially close to my heart is a sculpture called Little Dancer Of Fourteen Years. My uncle brought me back a postcard of her when he visited NYC and I have it framed. So when my mom said "No way! Look Emily!" and when I turned I saw a small replica of my statue, although the colors on it were different from the original, but I still loved it! I knew it was mine as fast as I could run over and get my hands on it! Though when I picked it up I realized my dreams were dashed. $135. No way could I buy that when I told Robert I'd spend $40 tops and on a cookie jar. I reluctantly put it back down but I have never seen anything ever that I have such a strong love for. As cheezy as it sounds, It's just a statue to a lot of people but this statue means so much more to me. It is my hopes, dreams, childhood and so many emotions packaged in a beautiful bronze girl.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_F10mERcJjqA/Ta6dX17btaI/AAAAAAAABzQ/VIRTiZnDve8/IMAG0115-1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_F10mERcJjqA/Ta6dX17btaI/AAAAAAAABzQ/VIRTiZnDve8/IMAG0115-1.png" width="132" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">One day though.....maybe one day.</div><br />
</div>Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-61478731720990825952011-04-19T12:29:00.000-07:002011-04-19T13:49:17.088-07:00Blogs, blogs and more blogs!First of all, I have been thinking about my blog nonstop lately. I have all these ideas I want to write about but no time to! (At least right now) In a month and two days I graduate which has been the cause of my neglect on the blog... <br />
<br />
Thankfully, today I have NO obligations, well, I guess that's not true. I have the hubby, housework, puppy, homework...you get the point. Let me rephrase--There is no where that I need to be today. WHEW--and I needed today to catch up on a lot of things. <br />
<br />
Now onto the fun. Like I mentioned, I have been busy. I hear all about blog giveaways, fun prizes and all that. I think I tried one day to jump on and enter to win--no luck. So, today I jumped on and thought, why not? I was so excited!! I was most excited to see that my own FABULOUS sister was a giveaway click<a href="http://heatheraprilshowers.blogspot.com/"><strong><span style="color: #b45f06;"> </span><span style="color: orange;">here</span></strong><span style="color: orange;"> </span></a> to check it out! She started out with all kinds of button jewelry but she has so many great ideas. My favorite are her rose rings and her reusable sandwiches wraps...Yes, reusable sandwich wraps--they are ADORABLE, easy to clean, use and store. She is so talented in altering, sewing, crafts and so much more. Way to go Heather! <br />
<br />
Another great giveaway I found was for a camera bag. If you know me, you know I LOVE photography. I do fun photoshoots here and there for engagements, weddings, babies, portraits, and family photos. My bag is black, small and...well, not so cute. These bags are adorable! The blog giveaway is sponsored by<span style="color: #cc0000;"><strong> </strong></span><a href="http://lovestitched.blogspot.com/2011/04/jo-totes-camera-bag-review-and-giveaway.html"><strong><span style="color: orange;">Love Stitched</span></strong></a><span style="color: #cc0000;"><strong>.</strong></span> They are so cute and I want it! :)<br />
<br />
I think graduating in a month is a good thing. You know college, 4 years, studying, working hard, getting a Bachelor's it's quite an accomplishment and I am glad I'm almost done, but I think I'm excited to have time to check out giveaways! Oh well, such is life!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-87773885384835291682011-03-23T14:41:00.000-07:002011-03-23T14:53:21.387-07:00Celebrating the saddest day of our lives....So you would probably never guess by the title, but we're talking about Robert's birthday!<br />
<br />
March 16th we celebrated Robert's 26th birthday and between Robert working all day and me at school, we somehow pulled off a fun day. I woke up Robert with a lovely rendition (yeah right!) of Happy Birthday and his gifts from me. After our long days at work and school we enjoyed pizza, salad and drinks at Robert's favorite pizza place with some family and friends. Sadly enough I didn't get a chance to take any pictures but we did have a great day!<br />
<br />
To go back to the title, sometime during Robert's birthday he always mentions the saddest day of his life; which in fact was his birthday, March 16, 2009. To give a little background as you saw on my last post, March 6, 2009 we were married and we had a week and a day before we went on our honeymoon. We flew to Florida and went on a cruise to the Bahamas. I had ALWAYS wanted to go to the East Coast but more than that, I had always wanted to go on a cruise. We went on the most amazing trip of our lives and visited both islands Nassau and Coco Cay. We had a wonderful time and did not want to get off that cruise for anything!! Sadly enough, the day we had to get off the cruise was actually Robert's birthday. We waited for his Aunt to come pick us up from the Port and we spent our entire time moping around the parking lot feeling sorry for ourselves. Each birthday we reminiscence that sad day, which in fact reminds us of how great of a honeymoon we had and how lucky we were!<br />

I would not have my wonderful hubby and life if he was not born that day! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ftXURuibDIA/TWhWwyPHpFI/AAAAAAAABpo/-nLP6d4Qn7w/s1600/NYC+216.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="133px" l6="true" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ftXURuibDIA/TWhWwyPHpFI/AAAAAAAABpo/-nLP6d4Qn7w/s200/NYC+216.JPG" width="200px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">This is a post that I have been wanting to put up for quite awhile! So be prepared---</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div>Robert gave me a surprise trip to NYC as part of my Christmas gift, not to mention an adorable red peacoat, a FlipCamera, and a new iTouch4 to skype all the way from NY. I have ALWAYS wanted to go there but thought it would be years before that happened. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">To attempt to make a long post shorter, we had a GREAT time! We had quite the start though. We were flying out of SF straight to JFK. We had Momma Campbell drop us off in SF quite early to get onto a 7am flight, but as we neared the counter we soon found out our flight was cancelled due to a snow storm on the East Coast. After a short panic attack because our hotel was non-refendable (not to mention our Wicked tickets either) we had an adventure as we booked a flight to Washington DC (Dulles Int'l) with no idea how we would get to NY. We made it there and ended up renting a car and driving the 4 hours up to New York City. My first time ever on the East Coast was my honeymoon (flew into Florida and cruised to the Bahamas) but I still was so excited to go to the Northern part of the East Coast. </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">We drove into New York and although we were exhausted from our early morning and travels, we had a fun time passing the GORGEOUS Washington DC temple, the Delaware Memorial Bridge, and many other fun landmarks. (Not to mention Robert was the only one allowed to drive). We made it and had the craziest time driving around downtown Manhattan, trying to figure out where we were dropping off the car. After we finally found it, we realized we forgot to fill up---so 40 min. later we found a gas station and made our way back to the drop off. We flagged down our first taxi, and I thought I was going to DIE! It was the craziest ride of my life. We ended up hitting the town that night with all that adrenaline pumping from that taxi ride. We walked Times Square and had a blast. We also hit up the Empire State Building the next day, Grand Central Station, WICKED on Brodaway, the Museum of Natural History, THE TODAY SHOW! (hope you all saw my facebook post and saw me on there!! not to mention I met Meredith!), and our last day there we went to the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero. Of course, we have so many more places like Serendipity, the Tiffany Store, Trump tower, Rockefeller Center...etc. </div><br />
It never snowed or rained when we were there but for a California girl who has never been in any weather under 28 degrees, I just LOVED the cold weather there! I have to admit I understood the REAL purpose for scarves, rather than for fashion!<br />
<br />

Santa knows all languages, even American Sign Language. At Barton Creek Mall Wednesday night, deaf kids around Central Texas had the chance to tell a signing Santa their every Christmas wish.<br />
<br />
The Egbert kids eagerly await their chance to meet him. Xavier wants a dinosaur. Isadora is asking for a computer, an IPod, some clothes and a camera. And for two-year-old Amelia, this is her first time to talk to Santa.<br />
<br />
"I think it's cool, it's very nice, I'm very thankful they get this opportunity," the kids' father, Clyde Egbert, tells us.<br />
<br />
Isadora knows Santa won't come to her house until December 25th, but says she's excited to talk with him ahead of time.<br />
<br />
"This is the only time for us that we're able to communicate with Santa," adds Clyde.<br />
<br />
The North Austin Optimist Club helped bring Signing Santa to the mall so deaf kids around Central Texas could tell him all they want for Christmas. For several hours, a line of excited kids wait to meet this Santa who understands them. Employees with the Texas School for the Deaf estimate there were about 200 kids thereRobert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-36633959176045315562010-12-10T12:42:00.000-08:002010-12-10T12:42:03.953-08:00It's Christmas Time!Well, I've taken a 3 month break from the blog... and sadly, I'm disappointed. I've had so much going on that I should be recording but its just been crazy! Since I don't have time to write everything, I'll just highlight.<br />
<br />
In October Robert & I went to Montana for my cousin's wedding and it was beautiful up there. I went shooting for my first time, as well as golfing at the Beaverhead GC where Greg and Sara were married. It was great to see all my cousins and to have my Mom's side of the family completely together. When we got back I couldn't believe in only 4 days how much Tuck grew! He's doing great though and is really a great puppy. He's now 5 months old and going to be neutered this next week (so he doesn't have to wear the cone of shame for Christmas!)<br />
<br />
November was pretty much school, school, school. I did get to go to Apple Hill with my parents, Jen and Alix and we had a great time. We took pictures, ate delicious apple donuts, tri tip sandwiches, and of course apple cider. It was an all around great day!<br />
<br />
Since December has started I finished wrapping all Christmas gifts (I was done with shopping before Thanksgiving!) and signed up for my last semester in college--WHOO! We have our tree and decorations up and are getting into the Christmas spirit as best we can with our busy schedules. I also was released from Primary after teaching, Sunbeams, CTR 4 then CTR 5 for two years. It has definitely been hard not to see those adorable kids every Sunday, but Relief Society has whole-heartedly invited me in and made me feel completely welcome. Since I was up in Primary since the first week we entered the Wilton Ward, it still feels like I don't know too many adults if they don't have children in Junior Primary. I've loved going to RS events so far though and look forward to many more. I am especially grateful for the Christmas season and for the overall happiness this world seems to embrace. There are so many awful things in this world, but instead of focusing on the bad, we all get a chance to reflect on our Savior's birth and all that the Lord has and still does for us. I am looking foward to what this Christmas brings and am especially grateful for the gospel in my life and the guidance it gives me!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-32851897176397444132010-09-23T13:40:00.000-07:002010-11-18T22:09:23.576-08:00SeptemberIt's crazy how time flies by without you even realizing it! To back track to my last post, I wasn't able to go test out the GC Turkey Creek but did enjoy a fun time at Dry Creek in Galt with my Dad, Uncle Ranse, and Robert. I scored a 106 and was thrilled! It's my best score yet and I really enjoyed the course.<br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">As for this month, here are some highilghts </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TJu4ZeRYVJI/AAAAAAAABlA/lWAiKd3D35M/s1600/csus.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" px="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TJu4ZeRYVJI/AAAAAAAABlA/lWAiKd3D35M/s200/csus.jpg" width="200" /></a>Sept. 1st--</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"> I started my Fall 2010 semester (2nd to last semester--YAY!). Robert took French in high school and we knew that she would be coming so we bought a program and he freshened up on his French while I learned from scratch. We had so much fun just realizing how much more is out there in the real world and there is so much we don't think about and take for granted including different cultures, language, society, government, housing and even cuisine! We miss Claire but loved spending time with her and plan on visiting her in Chartres, France one day!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzOQXtGtmI/AAAAAAAABi4/JrfzIQOATmM/s1600/SPEARMAN.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzOQXtGtmI/AAAAAAAABi4/JrfzIQOATmM/s320/SPEARMAN.bmp" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">That very next week after Claire went back to France my dad went to Utah for a funeral and brought us back 3 adorable Spearman girls! Our cousins, Mikal, Nicole and Bridget (the 3 oldest in the picture) came for a week to experience the California sun but this time, without the parents! It was a short trip but still was so fun to see how big they are and how every five minutes someone is asking "Where's Robert?" "Is Robert here yet?" "Is Robert going swimming with us?" Anytime he was out of the girls' sight it was "Where did Robert go?" I have always had a close relationship with all my first cousins but I love how much they all adore Robert too! (Hopefully soon we can go visit and see the baby twins too----ooh that Sara and Brooke....SO cute!)</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzWQsSbiZI/AAAAAAAABjg/gF3WT2hAmq8/s1600/golf.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="191" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzWQsSbiZI/AAAAAAAABjg/gF3WT2hAmq8/s200/golf.jpg" width="200" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">We also have been enjoying this Shell Gas Station promo that if you buy at least 10 gallons of gas, and a water bottle you get a free round of golf! Robert, my dad, Chad and I went and checked out <a href="http://www.clubcorp.com/club/scripts/library/view_document.asp?DN=LD_GOLF_EMRGC&GRP=10&NS=PCH&MFCODE=EMRGC&SUBGRP=26">Empire Ranch</a> and had a great time! It was only my second time on a 18-hole course. Since we bought our golf sets we've gone to the range a lot. I am a lot more consistent and Robert isn't splicing his drives as much either! I scored a 115 but had some awesome holes...just some really really crappy ones too! While I'm gone this Saturday with my parents, Jen and Alix (woo hoo birthday girl!) Robert got a bunch of buddies together and are going...so needless to say that I am VERY excited about Alix's surprise birthday gift on Saturday, still a bit bummed I don't get to go golfing with the hub on Saturday---but very excited that he promised to take me to <a href="http://www.clubcorp.com/club/scripts/library/view_document.asp?DN=LD_GOLF_TKCGC&GRP=10&NS=PCH&MFCODE=TKCGC&SUBGRP=26">Turkey Creek</a> Aug. 30th! </div><br /><br /><br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTRyzNUhI/AAAAAAAABjA/prDmAaPpecU/s1600/ME.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ox="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTRyzNUhI/AAAAAAAABjA/prDmAaPpecU/s200/ME.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTdrBEW9I/AAAAAAAABjQ/v0itKz44no4/s1600/NEWS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ox="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTdrBEW9I/AAAAAAAABjQ/v0itKz44no4/s200/NEWS.jpg" width="150" /></a>Finally, wanted to blog about my morning! What a morning it was! Heather told me this past weekend that the new Henry's Farmers Market in Elk Grove (where the old Circuit City used to be) was having its Grand Opening and that the first 200 customers get a free bag full of groceries. It is a new store with a lot of organic foods which are not readily available in most normal supermarkets. Heather works in Natural Foods at Raley's and knows a lot about it....but me?....I wanted free food! :) We decided-----why not! So this morning woke up a little after 4am and drove to pick up Heather. We got to the store about 4:45am and got prime parking! We ended up being # 24 and 25 in line! We stood there and watched as the time went by and between 6 and 6:30 people were storming the place to run and get in line. The store passed out coffee, muffins, cinnamon bread and tons of snacks to keep us happy. As the time got closer to open they passed out wristbands to all those in line so we could shop all we wanted and then on our way out get our bag. We also had the news there--KCRA 3, News10, FOX 40, Good Morning Sac on 31 and eventually 13 showed up too. Heather was also interviewed for a radio broadcast! The store opened at 8am but we were busy waving at all the cameras and getting so excited for a free bag of groceries... We found out while waiting in line that it was 25 lbs. and worth $50. Also, Heather kept getting texts from a friend saying "Every time a news camera goes live I see you!" We ended up leaving the store about 8:45am feeling a kid on Christmas with our awesome deals and our free bag of groceries! We drove to our parents and unpacked the bags practically jumping up and down with every find. Needless to say, we had so much fun and I took two naps this afternoon because of my exhaustion!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTc1N-aQI/AAAAAAAABjI/XlG7GOXhK6o/s1600/HEATHER.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ox="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TGzTc1N-aQI/AAAAAAAABjI/XlG7GOXhK6o/s320/HEATHER.bmp" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">FYI--I finished the Host almost two weeks ago now and loved it. Ever since I read the book Holes way back in sixth grade I have loved fiction novels. No I can't say I have read a lot, or that I am an amazing fast reader, but I DO love to get caught up in a good book. Since the day I started unpacking my boxes of books as Robert & I were moving in to our place he said, "Have you even read all those? Why do you have so many?" Over the years I have picked up books here and there as gifts or as I browse aimlessly in the LDS bookstores. I have a little collection but I love them! I did promise I would get rid of some and I did sell about 7 online of just books I received and never really were THAT into starting up. I have so many I have started and never finished or have been wanting to read but never get to. I remember back in summer 2007 I was able to read book after book with great friends and it was an absolute blast so this summer I picked up some old "pre-teen" favorites like my Alias series that are just fun shorter books that I still like to read. Also finished one my sister, Jen let me borrow "How to Stuff a Wild Zucchini" which is a LDS romance novel. It was really cute and a easy read, and I just finished yesterday "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" the short story Stephenie Meyer just put out about the "other side" of the vampires. I am excited to keep my journey of starting to read all these wonderful books I have but at the same time, being the person I am, I have these books and can pick them up and read them anytime, so I would love any recommendations from more avid readers than I am!! I really would like to get more serious about reading (especially before I have to start reading textbooks again) so give me your favorite book, whether its for kids or 1,000 pages long---<br /><br />Also if anyone knows of a fun book club that has sounded like fun for YEARS! Or if anyone wants to read a book the same time I am and we can just leisurely chat about it that would be a blast too....Let me know! Thanks for all your help!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-60704864952704337312010-06-26T14:02:00.000-07:002010-11-18T22:09:23.805-08:00Our recent happenings<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></div><br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Robert & I have sure been busy lately spending time together during the week and enjoying our weekends! The last two weeks I’ve gone with Robert to work everyday but one, usually Wednesday or Thursday just so I can get stuff done around the house too. He installs any kind of appliance, mounts TV’s, surround systems or anything to do with electrical work or plumbing. So since he is installing in different people’s homes from Galt, Placerville, Cameron Park, Grass Valley, Auburn, Nevada City, Lincoln, Davis and anywhere in between we get to hear a lot of comments. Usually when we first walk in Robert introduces himself and then says “This is my wife, Emily” but sometimes something happens and they only hear my name. I usually get some joke about “Is it bring your girlfriend to work day?” and occasionally we’ve heard “Is this your sister?” but just yesterday, not once but TWICE we were asked, “Is this your daughter?”……..</span></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"></span><br /><br /><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Daughter? Really? I didn’t know if this was a compliment or a slap in the face to either of us! One lady felt real bad and said to me, “Oh I stuck my foot my mouth! You just look so young! That will be a blessing when you’re 40!” </span><br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The other crazy old lady went from asking that question to “Oh…Do you have kids then?” In a matter of seconds I went from being his daughter to the mother of his children… </span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">All I came away with is that I will never to go work with Robert without mascara on again! We had a good laugh about it all though.</span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoeLEfGBI/AAAAAAAABiQ/GipvBXbNaOQ/s1600/pics+022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" ru="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoeLEfGBI/AAAAAAAABiQ/GipvBXbNaOQ/s320/pics+022.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">This is what our sink usually looks like</span></span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We were also excited because we were able to get our hands on a completely fine working dishwasher that we turned into a fun evening project together. Since we rent out in Wilton we don’t have a dishwasher, there isn’t room to install one, and Robert & I have come to STRONGLY dislike washing dishes. Usually I cook dinner and by the time we’re done eating we both don’t feel like washing the pots/pans/utensils/plates/cups…etc. etc. so they get pushed to the next day. If I go to work with Robert, they usually get pushed to the day after that and so on…. So dishes are no fun when no one is home to clean them. So we turned a stationary dishwasher into a portable one and had a fun time doing so. It does fill a good chunk of our kitchen but we can wheel it a few feet away into our laundry room when its not being used. Robert’s face was priceless when he had it all hooked it. He said, “Look at me!!!! I’m loading a DISHWASHER!” I know most people complain about that but not Robert he was so excited! Plus with the well water when we wash by hand it just doesn’t look completely clean with the minerals in the water. The dishes came out SPARKLING and we were both ecstatic! </span></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZofKbkk1I/AAAAAAAABiY/3avIiKkqJVk/s1600/pics+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ru="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZofKbkk1I/AAAAAAAABiY/3avIiKkqJVk/s200/pics+025.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZof7Po6jI/AAAAAAAABig/WoYItwCCQko/s1600/pics+030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ru="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZof7Po6jI/AAAAAAAABig/WoYItwCCQko/s200/pics+030.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZohoOPAiI/AAAAAAAABio/hpQ0OnldvrQ/s1600/pics+033.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" ru="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZohoOPAiI/AAAAAAAABio/hpQ0OnldvrQ/s320/pics+033.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br /><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Just this past weekend we were able to enjoy some much needed time away from home with wonderful friends, who we consider to be family. We camped at Don Pedro and were able to test the boat out with their awesome new speakers! Robert loved being near the water and just wanted to FISH FISH FISH! So that is what he did! He ended up getting a Blue Gill that he put back because it was obviously too small, but he did get a Large Mouth Bass. It was just within the length to keep it and he sure did! I have never seen someone catch a fish or gut it so it was quite the experience but it was thrilling! He was very proud of that fish and grilled it with dinner and shared pieces with everyone. Me, personally, thought it was gross! He said for absolutely no flavoring, it wasn’t too bad. Ugh! I was not a fan. The trip was great though and we had tons of laughs whether it be people constantly burning themselves on marshmallows or lanterns, crazy alarm clock ringtones, or Lance’s banana craze we had a blast. We also found out that Jaron & Heather are expecting another baby! Which we are so excited for them! Robert has known Bella since she was tiny and was attached to Livi when she was born and I’ve known her since she was 5 months old so it will be fun to see another little Martin!</span></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoSEI690I/AAAAAAAABhI/7O7RHwPptx8/s1600/pics+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ru="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoSEI690I/AAAAAAAABhI/7O7RHwPptx8/s200/pics+002.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoaaJ7HGI/AAAAAAAABh4/RRUOpIJLgXs/s1600/pics+014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ru="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoaaJ7HGI/AAAAAAAABh4/RRUOpIJLgXs/s200/pics+014.jpg" width="150" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoZVMlaxI/AAAAAAAABhw/95QNnhN7O6s/s1600/pics+017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" ru="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZoZVMlaxI/AAAAAAAABhw/95QNnhN7O6s/s200/pics+017.jpg" width="154" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZob6317nI/AAAAAAAABiA/jjRwbgsDJbY/s1600/pics+018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" ru="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TCZob6317nI/AAAAAAAABiA/jjRwbgsDJbY/s320/pics+018.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">How cool do those gills look?</div></div>Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-48615986174112823592010-06-01T15:05:00.000-07:002010-11-18T22:09:23.856-08:00Successful weekend fun...<div align="center">My mother turned 50 this past weekend and she wished for a quiet night at home wth her family. We lovingly obeyed her wishes and gave her a fun night at home eating tacos and playing croquet on her actual birthday Friday, May 28th.</div><div><div align="center">What my mother didn't know is for over a week before that we were planning a surprise party for her!!! We completely pulled it off. We made it seem like Friday was her nice birthday and when it came and went she had no idea she would have another one. </div><div align="center">So after church on Sunday we ran to Heather and St John's to help decorate the backyard for an evening of fun. Everyone showed up and got ready as my mom arrived ready for a Sunday dinner at H & SJ's. She came right in and sat down on the couch as Jen ran out back to join the rest of us. Heather somehow got her to the back porch and told her that SJ had made a surprise for her that she wanted her to see before dinner. Heather walked her to the back porch covering her eyes as we all yelled SURPRISE!<br /><br /><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dxXSw_d1iL4XGm6s6R3ukh1_l5jrgKRSyaI9eackNODXeWfLqRnvo-9xQhz266QUe2OkWDRoYPMjCuUbmo_tw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477938420320997202" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWL-Eyyj1I/AAAAAAAABgQ/ObWEdjPU2Bw/s200/pics+214.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 134px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477940167120401426" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWNjwIONBI/AAAAAAAABgY/ahzjRMQdv40/s200/pics+222.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 134px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477938398271278274" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWL8ypujMI/AAAAAAAABfw/Wx8HDUfMhDA/s200/MOM+009.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 200px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 150px;" /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477940178617149554" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWNka9QqHI/AAAAAAAABgg/7LoCCVe0hTc/s200/pics+238.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 134px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><br /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477938403133487474" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWL9Ew9-XI/AAAAAAAABf4/WUxYTmR8iO8/s200/MOM+014.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 150px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><br /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477938408862788722" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWL9aG8LHI/AAAAAAAABgA/9F2FlAgUOoA/s200/MOM+015.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 200px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 150px;" /><br /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477938414730011842" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWL9v9y5MI/AAAAAAAABgI/Fz_wYGEbmJo/s200/MOM+016.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 160px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><br /><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5477940189001900914" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/TAWNlBpLY3I/AAAAAAAABg4/0zlXqMEQ-Cs/s200/MOM+027.jpg" style="cursor: hand; display: block; height: 150px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 200px;" /><br /><div align="center">It was great to see her so taken back and we all enjoyed a great evening. It is a great feeling to be almost done with this semester though. It is even more exciting that I have my graduation paperwork in! I would have been able to graduate this next Fall except for the fact that California has had SOOO many budget cuts and tuition increases!!! They are only offering classes every other semester since my major is still "newer", so I have to stretch out my remaining five classes into Fall and Spring rather than finishing them up this Fall.<br /><br /><p>Anyways--I am graduating Spring 2011 and can't wait! I love my major! I will be getting a bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies and a Certificate in American Sign Language. I love the language, the Culture, but most importantly the people!! I have amazing professors which have turned into 6 Deaf friends instead! I am hoping one day to go back for 2 years and get my Interpreting Cert, but when I graduate it's time to focus on the hubby and support him through school! I was going through my computer and found this OLD video of me in ASL 2. We were to make a short video about two events we went to. I have to admit, although I am signing it is not proper ASL grammar now that I have taken ASL 1-5, and a variety of other major classes which develop your skills MUCH better I can say that I was signing "English"! Although I still do not admit to be a fluent signer but I am SO much better than this video. It is still fun to see how I used to try to be precise, and sign at a calm but steady pace. Watching the progress is fun. I am not a professional with videos so I don't know how to caption or gloss for those who are "signing-impaired". Anyway, hope you enjoy!</p><br /><p align="center"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.blogger.com/video.g?token=AD6v5dy0CwAZjD5Cdxyt-F7UISOvPUZVbH59F0TPh5Cj8Y9PAungfYRy5Nqit3OE9spYXUhTzIlaJQ0HhFmaI_zQPw' class='b-hbp-video b-uploaded' frameborder='0'></iframe></p>Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-81726585003019904412010-04-21T10:49:00.000-07:002010-11-18T22:09:23.929-08:00The joys of Spring!<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">Well, it feels like it has been quite a while since I've posted! We have had so many fun events we've gone to! <br />We celebrated Robert's 25th birthday March 16th! We had a friends/family get-together at Leatherby's...yum!</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S88pdOk8AkI/AAAAAAAABXY/sEO-AQ3B5iQ/s1600/Robert%27s+Bday.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S88pdOk8AkI/AAAAAAAABXY/sEO-AQ3B5iQ/s320/Robert%27s+Bday.jpg" wt="true" /></a></div><br />Then a week before midterms my family went to DISNEYLAND! We haven't gone all together in almost 2 years...PLUS, St John had never been! So we left the day after Robert's birthday, celebrated it while we were there and also celebrated my Dad's on March 20th! I only have about an hour until we leave for the John Mayer concert down in San Jose tonight (which Robert bought me the tickets for Christmas!) but we finally got a video of the new tricks Robert and I have been teaching Makiya so I thought I'd post them real fast! Enjoy!<br /><br /><object height="144" width="176"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/402983803766"><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/402983803766" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="176" height="144"></embed></object><br /><br /><br /><object height="144" width="176"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true"><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/402983173766"><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/402983173766" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="176" height="144"></embed></object>Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-71315331263548268012010-03-09T13:24:00.000-08:002010-11-18T22:09:23.970-08:00♥ Robert's baby boy ♥<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">Monday, March 1st, right when Robert got home from work, we jumped into my car and drove down to Fresno, CA to pick up our new baby boy. <br />Then, drove all the way back---yes, in one night! <br /><br />Welcome to the Campbell Family, Makiya! <br />(pronounced ma-ky-ya)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5a6ipVqTFI/AAAAAAAABWg/GogXlml2PiU/s1600-h/makiya.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5a6ipVqTFI/AAAAAAAABWg/GogXlml2PiU/s320/makiya.bmp" vt="true" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">(playing on his gym eating a piece of dried banana)</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">He is a Jenday Conure which are very social, cuddily birds. I did so much research on these types of birds that I feel like I could write my own book! He is only 5 months old so he's still just a baby! When he hits a year his colors will come all the way in with a bright yellow head, orange tummy and green wings with bright blue ends. He also will be able to whistle numerous tunes, tricks and even say words. They live 25-30 years so we will have him for quite a long time!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5a71rbXSZI/AAAAAAAABWo/amlfRY1IpUc/s1600-h/makiya2.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5a71rbXSZI/AAAAAAAABWo/amlfRY1IpUc/s320/makiya2.bmp" vt="true" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">(he posed for the camera next to one of his favorite rope toys)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;">Needless to say, although it was an "anniversary gift" Makiya LOVES Robert. I get the pleasure of staying home with him but the moment Robert's voice is heard or as soon as he walks in the door Makiya flys straight to him! He is a sweet gentle bird who is SPOOOOILED! He has his own tabletop play gym and a nice big cage with tons of toys, ropes, perches, and more! He loves to eat fresh fruits and veggies which is fun to shop in produce for your PET! Robert is a proud "dad". He already has him potty trained and Robert loves to show off the fact that when he holds him over the toilet and says "Go poop" that he will. </div>Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-49333331070894651152010-03-09T12:54:00.000-08:002010-11-18T22:09:23.993-08:00March 6th<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5W3a_OMPAI/AAAAAAAABWI/1ovtjMZ0F98/s1600-h/hands.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" kt="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5W3a_OMPAI/AAAAAAAABWI/1ovtjMZ0F98/s400/hands.jpg" width="400" /></a><br /><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5W3mxYuQSI/AAAAAAAABWY/b3pFADeFjeM/s1600-h/us.bmp" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" kt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S5W3mxYuQSI/AAAAAAAABWY/b3pFADeFjeM/s200/us.bmp" width="131" /></a>This past Saturday, March 6th, Robert & I celebrated our one year anniversary. It is crazy to think of everything we have done and have been through in the past year. Time really does fly by! It is so fun to look back on the photos and of the big wedding day! We had so much support and loving friends and family members who came to see us on our wedding day. We really do appreciate everyone who made the trek to good ol' Sacramento and to everyone who helped out! It was a great day that I never want to forget! Left Thursday after work and got there Friday morning about 2:45am! <br /><br />We both had been to Vegas before----His grandparents used to live there so he would visit annually. I have only been there once----the summer before my sophomore year my dad was going to a Board of Director's meeting in Vegas and I knew my mom was going with him. My parents surprised me with a plane ticket (my first ever!). So I have great memories of just sight-seeing with my mom there.<br /><br />Oh man does it feel like a different world though! Robert & I were joking about how we decided to come to a place that is basically known for doing EVERYTHING our morals are against! Smoking, drinking, gambling, immorality, explicit pictures!!!! There are definitely bad things there....no doubt BUT if you know the right places to go, and how to have fun, Vegas can be a great place to visit! We were able to escape even from the aroma and images a majority of our stay!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5awYsrKI/AAAAAAAABVY/CIf3LlbqWw8/s1600-h/tok.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5awYsrKI/AAAAAAAABVY/CIf3LlbqWw8/s320/tok.gif" /></a><br /></div>We went to the "Tournament of Kings" which is in the Excalibur. It is basically a medieval dinner and a show and it is SOOO AWESOME!!!!! It has jousting, amazing food and was so interactive.....Oh I would recommend it to anyone. It was probably one of my favorite things we went to!<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5cabiSeI/AAAAAAAABVg/m2B_9fx0cjw/s1600-h/food.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5cabiSeI/AAAAAAAABVg/m2B_9fx0cjw/s320/food.jpg" /></a><br /></div><br /><br />If you want to see an amazing hotel though.....See the Wynn. When I went my first time, everyone was talking about the Wynn but it was just being built. This time I got to go inside and it is exquisite! Almost every restaurant is formal attire and plates start at like $85!!!! The decorating though..... was breath taking!!! We took our video camera and just was in awe when we were there! Even the slot machines started at $100!!<br /><br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e6AvmyKhI/AAAAAAAABVw/YqhiHMxjrNE/s1600-h/wynn.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e6AvmyKhI/AAAAAAAABVw/YqhiHMxjrNE/s320/wynn.jpg" /></a><br /></div><br /><br />The Bellagio is one of my FAVORITE hotels in Vegas---mainly because I love the watershow! The performance is to different songs and has completely different choreography each time....but it is SO fun and amazing to watch!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5d-xrwPI/AAAAAAAABVo/zkpBiMCudjQ/s1600-h/bellagio.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mt="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_F10mERcJjqA/S1e5d-xrwPI/AAAAAAAABVo/zkpBiMCudjQ/s320/bellagio.jpg" /></a><br /></div>It was a great little vacation and we had perfect weather right before this crazy storm hit CA and NV. We are getting back into the swing of things now and I start school again this next Monday the 25th.....I am hoping I have a better, less-stressful semester than last year!<br /><br />Also, I've been trying to upload a video but the video button suddenly disappeared under "compose"....has that happened to anyone else?Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-912745822258833853.post-53599081502626108592009-12-17T21:49:00.000-08:002010-11-18T22:09:24.213-08:00Months and months of fun....<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So now that I am completely done with finals and homework after this <strong>RIDICULOUS </strong>semester, I've been thinking....Wow, I'm awful at blogging. I have pictures from Halloween of Robert & my outfit this year, school and how ridiculous this semester has been, birthday parties, Bethany leaving for her mission, buying a new car in September and just random fun things we've done recently. I figured I'd type real fast since I had a few minutes to spare. Just this morning Robert, Jen and I went out to breakfast (which I haven't done in FOREVER!) and then went and saw New Moon. We had a great time, and I was really pleased with Summit's portrayal of the book. I have a big week ahead of me with papers, exams, Thanksgiving and my uncle, aunt and cousins coming into town!!!!!!! My cousin, Brittany just got off her mission and I can't wait to see her. There is just so much going on it sure is hard to keep up. Just wanted to say everything's great!Robert and Emily C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/10526727265493417354noreply@blogger.com2
