Lake Oroville

This past weekend Robert and I were invited to go with some friends camping and boating! We left Friday June 19th right after work and made our way to Lake Oroville. It was just about a 2 hour drive from Elk Grove.

We went with Jaron & Heather Martin (and their 2 kids Bella & Livi), as well as Heather's mom (Janet) and her sister's family(Amy, Lance and Colton), who happen to be our landlords!!

We got to our campsite Friday night at the Bidwell Canyon (on the bottom of the map) and us late-nighters enjoyed a few rounds of Hearts and Gin. My life was also saved when Robert heard a rustling by the tree and found a huge bull frog(before it came to jump on me and kill me!). I have the most thoughtful husband ever!! He doesn't agree with, but he understands my ranidaphobia. Thankfully, Jaron and Robert ended up taking it a few campspots down. I still sat with my feet up the rest of the night!

ROBERT DRIVING THE BOAT

ROBERT JUMPING THE WAKE

Saturday morning we all woke up ready to be on that boat!! We got out on the water and Jaron, Robert and I wakeboarded; Colton kneeboarded and also tubed with Bella. Lance & Robert even ended up fishing a bit towards the end while some slept.

We finished off the camping trip with s'mores and a big game of Apples to Apples. I ended up being, "friendly", Jaron "smelly", Heather "original", Colton "idiotic", Robert "cool", Amy "

I also learned that T-Rex's are unhealthy, Lemons are expensive, and the Mafia will always win!

It was such a nice relaxing but fun weekend, can't wait to go boating again....Bring on the summer!

Michael's Minutes of Fame!!!

So I don't know if you all have heard me talking about my adorable little cousin, Michael. He has Juvenile diabetes and it has been a big change for our whole family. I just got an email I from my aunt that I wanted to share!!!

(Written by my Aunt Shelly):

Hello everyone! I know most of you have heard the news that Michael had an interview with CW31's Julissa Ortiz last week. I just received confirmation that the piece will air this Friday, June 19th between 6-7 a.m. and also between 9-10 a.m. on Good Day Sacramento. If you aren't able to record it or watch it, go to their website and you should be able to watch it there. I don't know if I should let you all know now, or wait until I see it, to know if I made a complete idiot of myself. I can't talk about this topic without getting emotional. Sorry! Michael looked down a lot and I felt mumbled so hopefully they were able to piece together something presentable. Spread the word to any contacts you have that might be interested in watching. I'm also hoping to link it to Michael's blogspot. Check out http://www.michaelscrew.blogpot.com/ soon to see pictures from the Luau and hopefully the interview. Once we return from D.C. we'll be sure to post loads of pictures from our meeting with congress.

You can find the video on http://gooddaysacramento.com/ on the right side it says "Good Day Video" if you scroll over the stories it says "5 year old Michael Gale heads to Washington D.C."

They did such a good job and I was so proud of my family when I was watching it.
I'm so excited for you, Michael! Love you so much and I hope you have such a great time in Washington D.C.!!!

So far...

I decided to write a quick history about Robert & I. From there I will go back to the beginning and just share some of our favorite highlights from the first date, to getting engaged, to many fun trips, to the wedding, to our awesome honeymoon.

First of all....some background on the Hunky Hubby.

Robert was born in San Antonio, TX. He is the 2nd oldest, with 4 brothers...
Josh, Himself, Brady, Chad and Kyle.
His oldest brother Josh is married to Sarah who is also in the picture.

He then moved when he was just a tiny baby to Utah and finally made his way over here to California right before he was baptized. Their family lived in the Sheldon ward which was split and now they are in the Vineyard ward. Robert attended Sheldon High and played Football(4 years), Wrestled(4 years), sang in the choir(1 year), played the tuba as well as the trombone for 6 years. He also was on the School's Diving Team for a year. (Watch out when you get him on a diving board!)

He currently works for Nor-Cal Installations. He installs tons of different things, but mainly appliances for R.C. Willey and Sears. He also installs surround sounds, water heaters, water softeners, mounts flat screens and anything else you can imagine. He is always available to do side jobs for anyone who is interested!!! ;) ;) He is an all around handyman. If you have a problem he will not stop until he fixes it. Quite determined....or stubborn as some would say.

He also loves to do outdoor-anything! Snowboarding, wakeboarding, quads, swimming, camping, fishing...you name it--he probably loves it!! He also has a motorcycle that he worked on and completed about six months before we went on our first date.

Although we plan on selling it....I sure do love that bike and all the rides and places we've been to. Both mothers do not care for this bike or when we show up to an event on it. :) Their nerves will be calmed soon enough when we sell it.

As for me, I was born in Sacramento and grew up here in Elk Grove. I have two older sisters, Jennifer and Heather.

My middle sister, Heather was married this last year to St John Mailo....Just about the COOLEST guy you'll meet!! I couldn't have hoped for a better or funnier brother-in-law!!

I attended Elk Grove High and was the 4th generation to graduate from EGHS on my mom's side of the family. (They have been in EG since the beginning and that is why we love it so much!) I danced on Rhythmical Madness which was the Dance Co. for 3 years. I took a lot of really fun AP classes and just loved high school. I had a lot of wonderful friends who made it all worthwhile!

When I started college I began at CSUS-California State Univ. Sacramento. I'm majoring in Deaf Studies and minoring in Dance & Child Development. I sure loved it there! I was also on the Institute Council right across the street from CSUS. Which was an absolute blast to be a part of...I sure do miss it!

I attended 2 years there and decided to take a fun summer semester at BYU with 3 of my best friends...(Yes I know I have 4 of my best friends in the picture!!) We had just about THE funnest summer of our lives!

I came back from BYU and started back up at CSUS...I had to take the Spring semester off to plan for the wedding but currently I only have about a year left in college. For now I am just working at Pro-Tech Fire...where I've been working as Corp A/P for the past 18 months.

As for Robert & my story....this is where it begins.
